Coonawarra
is a popular wine growing region. Vineyards and cellar doors
are dotted along the Riddoch Highway adding charm and interest to
the area.
Mount Gambier
(50kms South) known as the Blue Lake City, is built
on the slopes of an extinct volcano, and is renowned for its natural
attractions, beautiful parks and gardens and historical buildings.
Robe
(103kms East) is one of South Australia's most popular beachside
destinations. As soon as you enter Robe an aura of old world
charm is apparent, a feeling of calm and relaxation is apparent.
Activities include fishing, swimming, sailing, sightseeing, heritage
walks, tranquil beaches. Explore the rugged coastline around
the obelisk or relax on the gently sloping white sands on Long Beach,
one of the best swimming beaches in Australia.
Naracoorte
(50kms North) is a country town with quiet charm, many attractions
for the visitor and a history settlement dating back to the 1840s.
Naracoorte township has much to offer from a variety of shops, and
eateries, travel further afield and notice the whole area is rich
in wildlife, with the World Heritage area containing 60 known caves
over a range of some 23 kms.
